The EA SPORTS quest to find the best FIFA 12 gamer in the Premier League continued with our recent visit to Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground.
We call it the Pro Player Challenge and at Chelsea, we had the largest number of challengers so far with six players taking part in the tournament.
For that reason, to get the two finalists, the players had to go on the attack and try to win by as many goals as possible. Check out the video below for all the action!
After a little controversy with the draw, the first gamers were decided and it was young Chelsea star Josh McEachran (Chelsea) versus Ryan Bertrand (Real Madrid). It wasn’t the prettiest of games with a late Torres goal in the 80th minute to McEachran taking the win against Bertrand’s Real Madrid.
Next up was the loudest player with the best banter we’ve ever heard and seen, David Luiz (playing as Man City) against tournament favourite Romelu Lukaku (as Bayern Munich).
“I play at home all the time, when I come home from training to relax myself I just play or watch movies”, said Romelu Lukaku.
And it was Luiz who pulled the first mental blow calling out ‘Ole’, ‘Ole’ after every pass he completed! He looked the goods too scoring a lovely goal with Dzeko to leave scores level at half time 1-1.
“David’s always throwing all sorts of banter out there, it’s just his character, he’s a funny guy and he loves it and I love his banter also”, said Daniel Sturridge.
But Luiz was left disappointed as Lukaku stole away with a special performance in the second half to run out an easy win 4-2 putting him straight into the final due to winning by more goals than McEachran.
The final game pitted keen FIFA gamer Daniel Sturridge (Barcelona) against youngster and reserves Captain Nathaniel Chalobah (playing as Real Madrid).
It was an epic struggle with many last ditch tackles and plenty of banter to boot ending 0-0 after extra time. Thus we had the first Pro Player Challenge penalty shoot-out of the season. The tension and drama was high but Chalobah held his nerve to win 5-4 on pens. However it wasn’t enough to get him into the final.
The final saw all the Chelsea players siding with McEachran simply because he was playing as Chelsea and also Lukaku was talking himself up all week!
David Luiz was particularly vocal encouraging McEachran to put Luiz up front!
Despite the crowd disadvantage, it was Lukaku running the show seeing off his opponent 4-1 winning as Bayern Munich and helping himself to a Gomez hat trick.
Congratulations to Romelu Lukaku, the winner of the Chelsea Pro Player Tournament.
“I’m the best FIFA player (at Chelsea) and this trophy proves it now, I told everybody I expected to win and now I’ve won it’s good!”, said a jubilant Lukaku.
