My name is Marius. If I were to sum up my play style in one word it would be “skill moves”. Technically that’s two words, but I’m not here to talk about my poor grammar! On youtube I go by the name of Hjerpseth, and I’m most known for pulling off fancy dribbles and scoring cool looking goals. Don’t believe me, then take a look here on my Youtube channel.
I often get questions from people who want to do the same, but don’t know where to begin. So I wrote down a few good tips on how to get started using skill moves. In this first part, I will give you an introduction to how skill moves work inside FIFA 11, and teach you a couple of simple tricks.
When you start up FIFA 11 you automatically spawn into the arena, which is a great place to practice your tricks before taking them to the big stage. To perform skill moves hold L2/LT and move the Right Stick. You can find a list of all the tricks in the controls menu. To find the list, press start to open up the menu screen and then go to My FIFA 11, then Settings & Profile, Controls, Button Help, and then finally press Skill Moves. If you made it this far, you’re good to go. It’s actually more difficult to find the Skill Moves list than it is to pull off each trick!
Each trick has a star rating based on how difficult it is to perform in real life. 1 star being the lowest and 5 stars the highest. Some players like Ronaldo and Messi are very skilful and can do even the most advanced tricks, whereas less skilful players like goalkeepers and defenders can’t. It takes a bit of time to learn all of the tricks in FIFA 11, but eventually you’re going to feel like Ronaldinho himself.
Just like in real life, timing is very important and you need to be able to read the situation carefully. Certain situations call for different tricks. I’m going to talk more about which moves to use and where to use them in a later post, but first, you need to learn some of the basics.
The Body Feint - An Easy Trick To Get You Started
A good trick to start with is the Body Feint. This is a 2 star trick so pretty much any player in the game without goalkeeping gloves or a broken leg can do this. When you’re in the arena, and your player is facing straight towards the goal hold L2/LT and flick the R Stick Left or Right. If your player did a Body Feint, you succeeded. However if your player rolled the ball with his foot instead, that means you held the Right Stick for too long. Try to release it sooner.
In FIFA 11, the controls for skill moves are relative to the direction the player is traveling. Basically what that means, is that you have to pay attention to which way your player is facing. For example, when you’re facing forwards the move might be as simple as moving the right stick up and then right but if you turned 180 degrees and ran the other way it would now be down and left. This may seem a little difficult, but trust me when I say that it’s not! Just mess about in the practice arena and you’ll get a hang of it in no time. Eventually it will become like second nature. If not, then feel free to come back here and drop me a comment, and I will do my best to help you out!
