On October 5th, 2013 the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Ottawa Senators. This marked the first meeting between the heated rivals. The 1st period saw the Leafs and Sens trade goals to get the game off to a 2-2 start. The 2nd period saw Ottawa take a 4-2 lead when Jared Cowen and Jason Spezza scored 15 seconds apart midway through the period. Late in the 2nd, Joffrey Lupul would score on the power play to make it 4-3 heading to the third. With 2:52 remaining in the 3rd the Leafs would tie the game at 4-4 when James van Riemsdyk scored his 2nd goal of the year. Toronto would go on to win the game via a Mason Raymond spin-o-rama in the shootout.
